Super First Class Passenger Seat
One of the most sophisticated seats in the world including multiple motors, massage, lumbar,  lighting control and TV.  With the press of a button, the seat converts into a fully-flat-bed.  A mode controller allows the passenger to close the doors to the suite and raise or lower a privacy screen between you and your fellow traveler.  And if that is not enough, each suite includes its very own personal mini-bar!  Watch the video and check out the mini-bar!

Autonomous Aircraft (UAV)
Fast, responsive control of flight control components is critical in any UAV design.  This level of performance was achieved using digital-servo control of the flight control surfaces.

Marine Air-Deployed Rescue Vehicle
A rescue vehicle which is deployed from a C130 transport aircraft.  Once deployed, the vehicle will be controlled via a radio (video and data) link to/from the aircraft.

Motor Test Application
A motor test application written in VB.NET to simultaneously test up to 16 motors via an RS232 link to the hardware.

PocketPC Application
A Windows Mobile 6 application was developed for a PocketPC.  The device is used to gather calving data which is stored  in  an SQL database.  A  Bluetooth radio links the unit to an electronic weigh  scale.  The unit also records RFID tag information and barcode data from DNA tags.

Substation Automation
Software and hardware upgrade of peripheral devices from a proprietary communication protocol to an industry standard Distributed Network Protocol DNP3.  The devices are used to control and monitor power sub-station equipment.

Pipeline Inspection Tool
Design of a Sensor Head for a pipeline pig using an Atmel Atmega16 microprocessor including parts selection, schematic generation and preliminary software coding and design verification.

Velocity Stick
Hockey fans will love this one.  The goal of this project was to design a sensor for a hockey stick that would allow the speed of the puck to be determined and displayed.

Home Construction Scheduler
The Home Construction Scheduler  was designed to streamline the scheduling of various tasks associated with the construction of a house. The program was base on an Access Database and used VBA for the underlying code.

Real Time Pressure/Temperature Measurement
Battery operated down-hole tool used to record temperature and pressure for up to three months. HOT - High Temperature version that operates to 175 ºC. That's almost twice the temperature of boiling water!

Ultra Low Power Quartz Pressure Gauge
Battery operated down-hole tool used to record temperature and pressure using a quartz pressure sensor.  

Military Tank Heater
A 60,000 BTU/Hr combined diesel-electric heater designed to operate at -55ºC and provided short-circuit protection on all outputs including motors, fuel injectors and a glow plug.  

Radio Controlled Airship
15 meter un-manned radio-controlled airship used for advertising.

Automatic Telephone Dialing System
Although I dislike telemarketers, this was a great project.  The dialer automatically dialed customer numbers from a FoxPro data base, monitored the call progress and connected the customer to the next available operator.  The system included 8 telephone lines and 6 operator stations.

Baby Sleeper
Motor control for patented circular rocking motion of a baby bassinet.

Ball Injector Controller
Gas well casings are perforated to allow gas to flow into the pipes.  Over time, the holes in the casings plug with contaminants.  This high power motor controller was designed to inject balls into gas wells during acid cleaning of casing perforations.

Airborne Digital Radar Imaging System
A high speed Exabyte tape drive controller mounted in a specially  modified aircraft for real time recording of streaming radar image data.

Acoustic Monitor
This device uses acoustic techniques to provide real-time monitoring of large reinforced concrete structures for the purpose of pinpointing the location of failures of post tension cables within the structures.

Portable Gas Detector
The Gas Detector monitors depth, gas, rate of penetration (ROP) and lag depths of real time drilling and includes data logging.

Car Wash Timer
A great example of "Keep It Simple".    This Car Wash Timer was one of the first to display TIME REMAINING and included debit and account keys for fleet operators.  What made this timer remarkable was that it was in service and operational for 17 years, 24 hours a day, under very harsh conditions including cold temperatures and extreme humidity.

Overhead Power Line Corrosion Monitor
Design of a tug controller for monitoring the amount of corrosion on high voltage power lines. Data telemetry was linked to a ground unit using a radio modem.

Robotic Submarine
A chance to mix work and play.  A tethered miniature submarine with 4 motors, capable of operating to depths of 50 meters and included a video camera, lights and vectored steering.
